RHS Gardening Awards

We are thrilled to share with you some awards that we have achieved this term... all four of them! Having started our Gardening Club last year and embedding this in the wider curriculum as a result of how positively this club impacted on wellbeing, we have been patiently waiting to find out whether or not all of this learning met the outcomes of the Royal Horticultural Society’s School Gardening Awards. Our patience was awarded when we received lots of special deliveries a few weeks ago...

For showing that we understand some of the hazards linked to gardening and for creating a plan of what we needed to do, we were awarded the Level 1 award! For this, we received a growing calendar full of advice and top tips for gardening all year round!

For preparing the soil, choosing what to grow and planting seeds, we were awarded the Level 2 award! For this, we received an RHS gardening book to help us with our plans for next year!

For developing our skills, growing food and working together to provide habitats for wildlife, we were awarded the Level 3 award! For this, we received £50 in garden centre vouchers!

Finally, for using the produce that we had grown to sell at the Hub (and for being able to demonstrate how to care for our plants), we were awarded the Level 4 award! For this, we received £100 worth of seeds! There are so many to choose from and include everything from herbs to flowers to fruits and vegetables! We gave ourselves the biggest round of applause when we realised just what we had been awarded! This week, we also took delivery of five new fruit trees and lots of hedges to add to our new outdoor classroom  Well done, everyone!
